The pay rate ranges from $ $23.00 per hour; we offer a 401k retirement program, and the immediate accrual of Paid Time Off hours.

Typical duties require our veterinary technicians to work closely with and provide crucial support to our Clinic Practice Manager and veterinarians in a collaborative environment providing high-quality healthcare to our companion animals and exceptional service to our clients.

What you'll be doing

  • Handle and restrain patients with skill, high level of care, and compassion while being attentive to their needs and wellbeing.

  • Administer venipuncture, catheter placements, and SQ/IM/IV injections; perform blood draws.
  • Calculate drug dosages, prepare, and administer medications and nonRabies vaccines according to clinic protocol.
  • Conduct anesthesia induction and intubation; monitor and maintain proper levels during surgery with veterinarian supervision.
  • Respond to the needs of all clients and staff with a high degree of urgency while communicating appropriate and pertinent medical information based on the audience.
  • Assist with and perform other tasks as delegated.

What to expect

  • Willingness and ability to work with animals of all temperaments and species.
  • Exposure to high noise levels; potential exposure to zoonotic diseases, animal bites, and scratches.
  • Staying active: walking, standing, and occasional lifting (up to 40 pounds with help).
  • The need for safety awareness due to animal exposure.
  • Veterinary Technician Certification or 3 years of experience in a clinic setting.
  • Genuine interest in learning more about animal welfare.
  • Sense of comfort and ease handling animals with health and/or behavior issues.
  • Certification in Fear Free Shelters methodology (training is provided).
  • A flexible schedule to work occasional weekends, weeknights, holiday shifts, and/or nonstandard hours when needed.
  • Ability to multitask and adapt swiftly to changes in environment, protocol, and priorities.
  • Ability to remain calm and professional in potentially stressful and emotional situations.
  • Ability to maintain focus during frequent interruptions; work independently.
  • Desire to work with the public.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills that showcase warmth and inclusivity.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Suite; highly comfortable learning new software.

All volunteers and staff of Anderson Humane must understand and accept that, even though all reasonable accommodations are made to support the physical and emotional health of our shelter animals, there are situations in which animals must be euthanized.
