Summary/objective:

This individual will organize residents of Philadelphia, especially in under-served communities, to have a voice in shaping climate justice solutions for their communities.


Essential functions:


  • Organize a base of Philadelphians who care about the nexus of housing, health, local green jobs and energy justice in the great turning away from a fossil fuel economy, focusing especially on one area of Philadelphia (such as Northeast Philadelphia) connecting people who care about the same things to the organization's campaigns on local and statewide climate justice issues.
  • Represent the organization in public and at coalition tables, when needed.
  • Document organizing relationships in the organization's database (Every Action) and use digital engagement civic outreach tools.
  • Join staff structures such as regular organizing meetings, staff meetings, trainings and retreats, and weekly supervision sessions with the Director of Climate Justice and Jobs. You will be part of a supportive justice community of leaders for change.
  • Engage in deepening learning, organizing and leadership development of yourself and of your volunteer leaders with guidance to further a unified approach to the organization's justice mission.

Core Competencies:


  • Required education and experience: Bachelor's degree in applicable field preferred; advanced degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 0 5 years of organizing experience.
  • Excellent organizational and problemsolving abilities, with attention to detail and a focus on results.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships and work effectively with diverse leaders.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fastpaced environment.
  • Commitment to the organization's mission and values.

  • Work environment: 100% onsite
  • Physical demands: 80% sedentary, 3% pushing, 3% lifting and 3% pulling
