Position Summary:
Under the direction of the Air Pollution Control Unit Manager, the Air Pollution Control Supervisor is responsible for supervising and coordinating all activities of Air Pollution Control Specialists, and the monitoring of program and employee performance to ensure achievement of program objectives.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in environmental science or related field
Two (2) years of experience as an Air Pollution Control Technician II
Two (2) – Four (4) years of management and supervisory experience
Proficiency in utilizing a PC with MS Office software experience
Understands and acknowledges that Public Health - Dayton & Montgomery County uses evidence-based and evidence-informed public health practices based on scientific research including health promotion theory and practice, environmental health measures, and communicable disease control measures including vaccination, isolation, and quarantine practices, and medicine for treatment and prevention of disease, among others
Understands and acknowledges the use of tobacco or nicotine products in any form including replacement therapy products and prescription medications used to treat smoking addiction for any anyone hired after January 1, 2014, is prohibited
Required to play an active role during the public health emergency, crisis, outbreak, incident, or event in which the Health Commissioner deems additional personnel resources are warranted.
This may include changes in responsibilities and working locations/hoursCompletion of Incident Command System 100 and National Incident Management System 700 courses within 90 days of hire
Valid State of Ohio driver's license and insurance on any personal vehicle that will be used for work
Preferred Qualifications:
Master's degree in environmental science or related field
Two (2) years' ambient monitoring data program experience
Responsibilities include but not limited to:
Supervising direct reports and determining work priorities by assigning tasks and managing workloads, identifying problems and resolutions, and providing leadership through training, coaching, discipline, accountability, and evaluating performance.
Encourages professional development for all employees within their department(s) by providing training opportunities to staff and by attending trainings and conferences.
Serving as a liaison between staff and Unit Manager and Senior Manager.Developing and directing implementation of plans, goals, and objectives for the department/program.
Determining how and assigning tasks related to the implementation of plans strategies, objectives, programs, and services as directed by Unit Manager, Senior Manager, or Office Director.
Maintaining accurate files, editing and validating all data prior to monthly and quarterly submittal to Ohio EPA and U.S.EPA, preparing and maintaining records required by state and federal audits, reviewing audit results, ensuring all air monitoring equipment is calibrated and meets federal requirements and standards, ensuring Standard Operating Procedure documents and manuals are complete, accurate, and current, preparing and submitting reports to the State and Senior Manager for performance management purposes, and participating in state and federal workgroups.
Responsible for assisting in the development of department and/or program budgets, Managing and requesting allocation of resources to meet goals.
Preparing and submitting equipment age inventory report to the State.Adhering to compliance protocol with Federal, state, and local regulations; and is responsible for rule, code, and policy implementation. Implements and monitors changes to laws and regulations that impact their department(s)
Attending internal and external program related trainings.
Supporting agency and Office goals, mission, vision, values, and objectives through document review, compiling data , analyzing data, and special projects as assigned.
