CASA (Children's After School Arts) is a nonprofit, arts-based after school program with an emphasis on social justice and social emotional wellness, located at Rooftop School in San Francisco.
We serve TK-8th graders.We are seeking a dynamic, communicative, flexible, focused & organized program director starting 8/1/2-
Maintain Mission & Vision of Program:
- Contribute to creating a safe, engaging, playful and inspiring environment for students, staff, and families that centers art, social justice, and social emotional wellness
- Demonstrate effort to know each child
- Ensure an environment of access, inclusivity, and respect
- Maintain daily focus on positive behavior intervention systems & restorative practices
Personnel:
- Responsible for managing and supervising all teachers in assigned cohorts
- Implement reflections and disciplinary actions as needed in consultation with the Executive Director (i.e. conditions of probation)
- Ensure proper coverage on yard and in the classrooms at all times, jigsawing staff when staff need to be out and no subs are available
- Evaluate and provide feedback on performance and develop professional development plans for the staff to ensure the program maintains a high level of quality
- Oversee and ensure that enrichment, academic, and recreation activities align with CASA's art, social justice & social emotional wellness mission
Student & Family Supports:
- Implement and ensure positive behavior intervention systems and restorative practices
- Direct and organize regular meetings with lead teachers to discuss what's going well, what's not going well, identify students who need extra support, brainstorm interventions, and guide next steps
- Collaborating with school site staff, wellness counselor, social workers, families, and anyone else who provides support to students in your assigned cohort
- Providing a warm welcome to families that are new to CASA
- Occasional & collaborative case management to assist students and families in securing necessary services
General Oversight:
- Quick and efficient responses to walkie calls
- Logging all injuries and incidents
- Following up on incidents with all involved, holding restorative conversations, and closing the communication loop with families and teachers on how it's been handled
- Making rounds to checkin on assigned cohorts during programming, noting quality instruction and creative offerings, interacting with kids, and offering support to teachers
Licensing Compliance:
- Attend licensing workshops and maintain familiarity with licensing guidelines
- Maintaining compliance with licensing, including but not limited to: student/ teacher ratios, supervision, posting requirements, student and teacher records, safety drills, reporting, and medication policies
- Oversee licensing inspections
Grant Compliance:
- Attend relevant ExCEL and DCYF workshops
- Work with grants manager and ED to complete program quality assessments and implement suggested improvements
- Curate ExCEL & DCYF PD opportunities for staff and log attendance
- Work with grants manager and ED to ensure that programmatic structures and offerings align with grant requirements
Scheduling:
- Work with admin team to develop six week rotation schedules that allow opportunities for students in art, recreation, literacy, homework, snack, etc.
- Overseeing Cohort Leads in the tracking of students during class rotations
- Support in creating on the spot alternate schedules as needed due to space issues, weather, or other unforeseen circumstances
Manage Student & Staff Records:
- Collaborate with Director of Operation to ensure that student records are complete
- Maintain records with online student registration and attendance including people who are authorized to pick up students and schedule changes.
- Ensure that CASA staff records are complete in accordance with licensing guidelines
Health & Safety:
- Oversee Health & Safety Committee to ensure that all emergency and disaster supplies are stocked at all times
- Oversee Health & Safety Committee in planning and implementation of regular safety drills
- Complete all required health and safety trainings
- Quick & efficient response and intervention to all health & safety concerns
Policies and Procedures:
- Ensure that all CASA activities are consistent with procedures outlined in the policies and procedures, employee manual, and safety manual
- Update and create new policies and procedures and safety procedures as needed in consultation with the Director of Operations & Executive Director
Events and Meetings:
- Provide input on the agenda for monthly CASA staff meetings and assist with meeting related tasks
