The Outreach Team Leader supports Preble Street efforts to end hunger and homelessness in Maine by ensuring the provision of high-quality services in alignment with the agency mission through providing direction to Homeless Voices for Justice (HVJ) and Maine Hunger Initiative (MHI).

The Team Leader develops and implements HVJ/MHI program activities and provides direct support to clients engaging in HVJ/MHI.

The position involves policy advocacy and community organizing to support positive policy change at the local, state, and federal level to ensure Mainers have the food they need.


As a member of the Advocacy Team, the Advocacy Outreach Team Leader provides administrative, data management, and grant writing support; shares responsibility for staff orientation and training; and actively collaborates with staff, supervisors, and community providers to ensure timely delivery of advocacy and organizing efforts.

This role also acts as a liaison with agency advocacy efforts and works closely with the Advocacy Director to organize and coordinate advocacy efforts across the agency.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Social Work, public administration, social sciences, or related field of study, and experience working in community organizing and advocacy on povertyrelated issues.
  • Understanding and positive regard for individuals experiencing homelessness and living in poverty.
  • Understanding of lowbarrier services and related challenges.
  • Ability to establish and maintain boundaries within diverse populations.
  • Strong proficiency in written and verbal communication skills, often acting in a fastpaced, professional environment.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, objectively assess situations, evaluate information, verify facts, and draw valid conclusions and recommendations utilizing critical thinking skills.
  • Technical capacity to communicate, document, report, and distribute data and information, utilizing information and communications technology as required.
  • Master's Degree in a related field of study and 23 years relevant experience preferred.

Pay:
$20.75 per hour
