Busy retail Garden Center in Simsbury is seeking FT or PT person for Retail Sales and Plant Care. Work is physical and fun - No need for a gym membership if you work with us
We work outdoors in all kinds of weather Seeking a hard-working and flexible new team member with experience in, and knowledge of the horticulture industry, landscaping business or related field.
Hands on plant sales and plant care as well as excellent customer service skills are imperative in order to excel in this position.
Responsibilities include all aspects of customer service-including giving informed plant and gardening advice, actively selling plant material, ringing up customers and using pos system, creating and maintaining indoor and outdoor displays, unloading delivery trucks, weeding and maintaining garden beds and much more.
Requirements:
- Have a good work ethic & be selfmotivated
- Enjoy working outdoors in all weather and elements
- Have stamina and be on feet all day
- Retail sales experience
- Able to provide efficient, courteous customer service
- Must be available to work weekends
- Be physically strong (able to lift 50 lbs) and energetic
- Have an outgoing, friendly disposition
- Be a team player
- Experience in the green industry a huge plus, almost a must
- Familiarity with different types of plants, trees, shrubs, annuals and perennials
- Strong interest in plants, gardening and knowledge of ornamental horticulture
