    POSITION SUMMARY:


    As a Mammography Technologist in the Breast Imaging center at Boston Medical Center, you will join an amazing team of professionals who have a culture of caring for each other while adhering to our mission of providing patients with exceptional care without exception.

    As a Mammography tech you will operate state of the art equipment to obtain images of the breast for interpretation.

    In addition you will have the opportunity to learn and perform Contrast Enhanced Mammography, Stereotactic Biopsy, Diagnostic Ultrasound, Core Biopsy and Seed Placement.


    JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
    Mammography


    • Prepares and positions patient for mammography procedures.
    • Explains procedures and educates patients to reduce anxieties.
    • Adjusts immobilization devices to obtain optimum views as protocoled by radiologists.
    • Determines exposure factors based on patient characteristics and adjusts exposure factors to produce images of proper detail, density and accuracy.
    • Performs routine and diagnostic procedures
    • Assists radiologists in specialized procedures
    Patient Care and Safety


    • Practices radiation protection techniques to minimize radiation to patient and staff.
    • Prepare patients for exams, ensuring their safety, comfort, and modesty at all times
    • Monitor each patient's condition during procedure, taking appropriate action when assistance is needed (such as further monitoring or nursing involvement)
    • Follow established hospital infection control and safety procedures and use AIDET communication framework
    Administrative


    • Document procedures properly in EPIC ensuring accurate patient demographics.
    • Prepares, completes and presents images to Radiologist for interpretation.
    • Performs routine maintenance, diagnoses and reports malfunctions of equipment, arranging for service as needed.
    • Completes all department forms and maintains records, logs and reports of work performed.

    JOB REQUIREMENTS:

    • BLS Certification is required
    • ARRT RT-R and RT-M Certification
    • RTR Licensure in Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
    • Maintaining all area specific CEU's for ARRT, DPH, MQSA required
