Job Summary

Greater Saint John Cathedral is seeking a
Praise & Worship Leader to join our ministry team who is called and gifted by God This person will work closely with the Minister of Music & Fine Arts and the worship team in cultivating worship services.

The Praise & Worship Leader will help lead our congregation to see and savor the greatness of God in Jesus Christ, and the power of the Holy Spirit.

The goal of this position is to foster dynamic congregational worship.


The Praise & Worship leader builds the body of Christ and draws people into worshiping God through carefully chosen music and lyrics.

The Praise & Worship leader shoulders responsibility for the flow of the service and the mood and readiness of the congregation to hear God's word as spoken through the Pastor.


Responsibilities

  • A genuine commitment to Christ and the Church (not required to be a disciple of Greater Saint John Cathedral)
  • Serves as a leader of the Praise & Worship Team
  • Attend all worship rehearsals unless otherwise noted by the Minister of Music and Fine Arts
  • Attend all Sunday worship services, Prayer, Praise, & Study (PPS
  • Bible Studies), and any other services outside Sunday mornings
  • In place to lead all singing, participate in choir singing, or sing solos as requested by the Minister of Music & Fine Arts or other leaders of the choirs or praise team
  • Musical ability including both vocal and instrumental (not required to play an instrument)
  • Lead the congregation in worship
  • Assist Minister of Music & Fine Arts Select Music when requested or assigned
  • Assist in the recruitment and development of new singers
  • Engage in the body of the church by seeking to make connections with disciples beyond the worship stage, and supporting the vision, mission, and pastors of the church
  • Work under the guidance of the Minister of Music and Fine Arts and the Director of Worship

Qualifications

  • Experience leading worship, vocalists, and musicians
  • Have a calling to serve in this kind of ministry role and the ability to articulate that calling to others
  • Ability to work within a system, think strategically and grow spiritually with the ministry
  • Relational skills and an enthusiastic presence for leading worship
  • Respect for all styles and genres of worship music
  • The ability to blend new and old styles
  • Commitment to ongoing personal, spiritual, and professional growth
  • Must have a teachable heart.

Compensation

This is a part-time position with a salary commensurate with experience, education, and the salaries for similar positions in other churches in our area.
