What you will do as an NDS Controls Engineer:
Position Summary:Nammo is seeking a Controls Engineer to join the operations team at the Nammo Defense Mesa, Arizona site.
The Controls Engineer will be responsible for overseeing the controls system associated with the manufacturing processes at the Nammo Mesa site.
Common types of equipment include custom automation and commercially purchased systems. Experience with robotics, PLCs, Labview, and HMIs is required. The Controls Engineer will work directly with maintenance, mechanical engineers, tool design, I.T., and manufacturing.
Projects will vary from small scale projects to assisting in large scale projects that may require the engineer to design the system architecture, establishment of requirements, execute, and oversee contractors.
Primary Responsibilities:Development and maintenance of controls systems using industry best practices.
Development of PLC or PC based control system
Support and implementation of automated manufacturing equipment
Develop aesthetically pleasing, easy to use, robust control systems
Generate test procedures and conduct acceptance testing
Communicate with respective teams both internal and external to Nammo
Position may be asked to supervisor technicians or other engineers
Required Experience & Skills:BS or MS Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Automation Engineering, Control Systems Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field
4+ years PLC and HMI programming experience with multiple hardware platforms
Experience troubleshooting electrical and mechanical control systems
4+ years of experience programming and maintaining SCADA system on multiple hardware platforms
Strong understanding of control system network topologies
Aptitude for quickly determining novel solutions for complex problems using available resources
Self-starter with a desire to stay on the cutting edge of automation technology from continuous development both through self-guided learning and available training courses
Ability to work with others to accurately define scope and estimate time required to complete projects
Working knowledge of NFPA79 Industrial Machinery Electrical Safety Standard Working knowledge of safety system design and deployment including safety hazard assessment, safety rated device selection, and interlocking safety zones
Must be authorized to work in the United States
Generate as-built CAD prints and documentations for panels and electrical schematics
Ability to obtain BATF approval to engage in certain explosive operations
