Global Transportation Coordinator, who will be responsible for managing global inbound freight for all North American BUs, carrier escalation, annual contract negotiation, and continuous training of global transportation standard operating procedures (SOP) to the field.


Key Accountabilities:


  • Act as the primary point of contact for all Global ocean freight inquiries for Berlin North American BUs and international Berlin entities.
  • Create SOPs for Logistic Coordinators, Supply Planners, and Account Coordinators regarding global shipments.
  • Responsible for managing the International Air Freight program for North American BUs.
  • Support Berlin National drayage program for all CY (container yard) shipments.
  • Coordinate freight movement internationally including scheduling, routing, customs, and final delivery.
  • Provide recommendations when presenting new carrier and lane analyses to BUs.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with partnered carriers to obtain optimum service, escalation, and negotiate cost effective freight rates.
  • Manage supplier performance through corrective actions and routinely communicate with current suppliers, freight forwarders, and internal team members to ensure timely and accurate shipment scheduling and delivery.
  • Assist in the preparation of freight analysis templates and data to review lane selection and planning of capacity.
  • Assist in the preparation and execution of ocean and air freight bids.
  • Negotiate rates and terms and conditions to maintain and/or improve service level.
  • Works closely with field operations to provide routing information, expedited services and recommendations to make timely deliveries of products to support customer service objectives.
  • Review and approve all invoices, credits, and debits as they relate to international freight charges.
  • Remain current on global logistics trends and developments.
  • Fulfills employee portion of the Berlin Values by demonstrating a strong work ethic, teamwork, loyalty, innovation, productivity, and driving profitable results.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:


  • Bachelor's degree in business or related field
  • Minimum two years of related experience in a logistics or transportation role
  • Knowledge of International logistics terminology and processes
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Interpersonal effectiveness
  • Strong project management and analytical skills
  • Excellent communication skills
