We are seeking a Part Time ESL Instructor.

Department Job Function:


Responsibilities:


  • Teach an ESL class to adult students three days a week (M
  • W) from 6:30pm8:30pm and provide an independent study assignment on Thursdays.
  • Attend onsite meetings as needed.
  • Deliver courses over Zoom incorporating in best practices for online learning.
  • Coordinate curriculum and teaching materials with other teachers in adult education program.
  • Maintain student enrollment and monthly attendance rates to meet the requirements by the funder.
  • Monitor and review student information/progress on funder and agency data systems.
  • Incorporate technology use into classroom to help build students' digital literacy.
  • Post daily on class pages on the program blog to help keep students informed about inclass assignments, upcoming events, and homework.
  • Fulfill administrative duties as instructor to include attendance, pre
- and post-testing, registration, and recruitment and retention efforts.

  • Participate in regular staff development activities, both on
- and off site, as available.

  • Work on projects as assigned or required by senior leadership in support of the Strategic Plan.
  • All other duties as assigned by the Adult Education and Literacy Manager.

Qualifications (Skills, knowledge, & abilities):


  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • High degree of initiative and sound decisionmaking ability.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within the organization and on the Adult Education team.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and care when working with student data and recordkeeping for grant purposes.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Education, English, Linguistics, TESOL, Adult Education, or related field (in lieu of relevant Bachelor's Degree, a Bachelor's Degree plus TESL/TEFL certification would also be accepted).
  • Experience teaching ESL to adult immigrants and/or experience working with learners from diverse backgrounds.
  • Thorough understanding of English and methods of instruction.
  • Experience working with multilevel classes.
  • Experience and comfort using technology for instruction and collaboration with other staff members.
  • Must be able to lift up to twentyfive pounds of books and supplies.
