Job Summary:

This is a one-year-only position anticipated to start August 2024 through May 2025. Instructs students from diverse backgrounds and/or cultures in Psychology courses (in classrooms, labs or online).

Keeps records of student grades, and prepares exams; provides leadership in infusing diversity and integrating appropriate teaching techniques; reviews and develops curriculum.

Uses appropriate technologies and online instructional tools for on campus and online instruction; serves on college-wide and district-wide committees; participates in educational and governance related activities in the discipline, department, college and district.

Demonstrates a commitment to service excellence, innovation, student success, integrity, and diversity in the performance of job duties.


Essential Functions:

50% - Instruct students and assess student learning;
15% - Maintain appropriate academic support hours and interact with students outside of class time;
15% - Review, revise, and develop curriculum;
10% - Engage in the academic life of the college by participating in department, college and/or district committees and activities;
10% - Pursue professional development to advance knowledge within discipline and promote the scholarship of teaching and learning.


Minimum Qualifications:

Master's degree (or higher) in any of the following areas within the Psychology field of study: Psychology, or a degree granted by a Psychology Department, or a degree which contains the word Psychology


Examples:
Educational Psychology, Counseling Psychology, School Psychology.

OR


Desired Qualifications:

A. PhD in Psychology

B. Experience teaching at least 10 sections of General Psychology

C. Experience teaching a high school population

D. Experience teaching and designing on-line courses in higher education

E. Experience teaching in an environment that fosters teamwork

F. Experience teaching a diverse student population

G. Industry experience (Psychology, non-teaching)
