    Description


    The Surgical Registered Nurse is a key member of the surgical team who may function in a circulator or scrubbing capacity.

    Services include, but are not limited to, ENT, general surgery, orthopedics, urology, gynecology,


    The Registered Nurse:

    • Incorporates the appropriate assessment and intervention skills utilizing the nursing process in the delivery of nursing care on his/her unit for a specified group of patients on a designated shift.
    • Practices consistently with applicable state nursing practice regulations, applicable ASC policies and procedures, and the ANA Code of Ethics.
    • Communicates with patients, team members and management in an accurate and timely manner using written and verbal skills effectively and considerately.
    • Ensures proper equipment is available and ready for surgical cases.
    • Ensures safety measures including time out process, safe patient positioning, required surgical documentation, and surgical count process are appropriately performed.
    • Promotes compassionate, efficient, cost-effective and quality patient care.
    • Incorporates teaching principles into practice and demonstrate competence in health promotion and disease prevention.
    • Demonstrates qualities consistent with the role applying leadership skills appropriately.
    • Applies critical thinking skills and considers alternatives in the delivery of patient care.
    • Develops and maintains human care relationships and integrates the influence of the human experience of health, illness and/or healing.
    • Applies knowledge integration skills for the patient populations served within the Surgical Services Unit.
    Floating to other departments when there is low census may be required.

    Requirements


    • Graduate from an accredited nursing school required
    • ADN with two years experience
    • BSN with one year experience
    • Current VT nursing license
    • BLS, ACLS, required
    * Must be fully vaccinated against COVID 19 virus and provide required vaccination documentation unless approved for an exemption prior to starting employment.*
