Summary:

Responsibilities:


  • Communicate and document appropriately and effectively with supervisors, physicians, nurse practitioners, unitbased pharmacists, social workers, nurse managers, peers, patients/customers and outside agencies.
  • Collaboration with internal team members to gather appropriate paperwork, prescription, billing information, and/or prescription(s.)
  • Coordination of medication access and delivery for outpatient use.
  • Develop and maintain understanding of medication names and drug therapies especially for assigned service lines.
  • Provides appropriate followup relating to patients, clinical practices, and family for pharmaceutical needs and/or additional eligibility information to ensure ongoing medication access.
  • Proficiently execute all accountabilities of Pharmacy Technician
  • Performs duties in accordance with Penn Medicine and entity values, policies, and procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned to support the unit, department, entity, and health system organization.

Credentials:

  • Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT)

Education or Equivalent Experience:

  • H.S. Diploma/GED with 1+ years Pharmacy experience as a certified pharmacy technician in a retail/outpatient pharmacy or payor environment (required)
  • 2+ years Pharmacy experience as a certified pharmacy technician in a retail/outpatient pharmacy or payor environment (preferred)
