Gently enables retailers to provide delivery services that meet the expectations of modern consumers. Retail is stuck with legacy logistics infrastructure and partners that were never built for modern consumer habits. Gently changes this by turning delivery into a value add for retailers and customers alike.

Consumers unlock lightning-fast deliveries from their favorite retailers without compromising on customer service; retail brands leverage a new channel with customers, increasing retention and revenue.

Gently is currently partnered with select brands for deliveries in Los Angeles.
Software Engineer - Integrations

We seek a highly motivated and skilled Software Engineer to join our logistics startup, specializing in same-day shipping for e-commerce merchants and retailers.

You will be crucial in developing our Warehouse Management System (WMS), improving our API, and expanding our integration functionality with e-commerce and cloud communications platforms, like Shopify and Twilio.

Your expertise in developing robust and scalable solutions will be instrumental in ensuring seamless order fulfillment and efficient communication processes.

Tasks

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand technical requirements and develop integration strategies for e-commerce platforms, focusing primarily on Shopify.
Design, develop, and maintain solutions to synchronize order and inventory data between our logistics system and e-commerce platforms.
Build scalable integrations with Warehouse Management Systems (WMSs) to optimize order routing, inventory management, and fulfillment processes.

Develop and maintain integrations with cloud communications platforms, such as Twilio, to enable real-time notifications, alerts, and tracking updates for merchants and customers.

Utilize various testing methodologies to identify software defects during different phases of the software development lifecycle.
Participate in code reviews, provide constructive feedback, and ensure adherence to coding standards, best practices, and security protocols.
Document processes, APIs, and system architectures to facilitate knowledge sharing and ensure effective onboarding of new team members.
Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field. At least 1-3 years of work experience is required.
Proven experience as a

Software Engineer

or similar role, preferably within the e-commerce, logistics, or supply chain domain.

Technical requirements:
Proficiency in

TypeScript

and

. Experience with

PostgreSQL .
Strong problem-solving skills are a must . Ability to analyze complex technical challenges and deliver solutions to improve operational capabilities.
Proficiency in building integrations using

RESTful APIs , webhooks, and other relevant technologies.
Solid understanding of cloud platforms like

AWS
and knowledge of containerization technologies like

Docker .
Familiarity with cloud communications platforms like

Twilio

or

SendGrid

and experience incorporating messaging, voice, and notifications services.
Experience with API design, development, and documentation using tools like

Postman

and

Redocly .
Familiarity with Warehouse Management Systems (WMSs) and experience with industry-standard WMSs is a plus.
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to effectively collaborate with diverse teams and stakeholders.
