Salary Range:
$23.24 to $29.20 per hour (depending on experience)


Job Summary:


Support payroll and accounting processes by performing general accounting administrative and payroll processes and systems duties as assigned in accordance with local and state labor laws, departmental and company guidelines, and standards.


Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Enters, maintains, and/or processes information in the payroll system; information may include employees' hourly rates, salaries, commissions, bonuses or other compensation, time worked/timecards, paid leave and holidays, deductions and withholding, address changes, and other information
  • Ensures proper processing of payroll deductions for taxes, benefits, charitable contributions, and other deductions
  • Provides excellent customer service to employees with regards to company payroll policies and employment guidelines
  • Reviewing employee inquiries with regards to pay, changes, discrepancies
  • Investigate & resolve payroll data
  • Review of new hire data
  • Create and/or reconciliation of adhoc reports
  • Review of quarterly and annual returns/reports
  • Adhere to federal and state laws
  • Clerical duties as needed, organize and proactive maintenance of employee records
  • Assist with department projects and perform other duties as assigned, which are reasonably within the scope of work in this job classification.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:


  • Knowledge of principles and practices of organization and general administration
  • Proficient with ADP, Paylocity or the ability to quickly learn payroll software.
  • Ability to communicate effectively.
  • Basic knowledge of accounting procedures and principles
  • Ethical behavior when dealing with sensitive financial information.
  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality and respect for employee records.
  • Computer literacy and strong typing skills, and experience with accounting software may be required.
  • Willingness to comply with all company, local, state, and federal financial regulations.
  • Ability to research and analyze financial data.
  • Attention to detail.

Preferred Qualifications, Education and/or Experience:


  • Pursuing or completed a bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field; at least one year of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel
  • Proficient with ADP, Payolcity or the ability to quickly learn payroll software
  • Excellent computer skills, especially typing.
  • Desire to be proactive and create a positive experience for others.
  • Bilingual
  • Spanish (a plus)

Requirements:


  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Must possess a valid California driver's license, auto insurance that covers business driving, and an automobile for business use.
  • Willingness to travel, and ability to work flexible hours and work long and irregular hours, including evenings and weekends.
