- Determines vehicle condition by conducting inspections and running diagnostic tests to determine need for overhaul and/or repair of engines, transmissions, components, electrical and fuel systems, etc., for AES heavy vehicles, tractor trailers and forklifts.
- Responsible for removing, installing, diagnosing, repairing, disassembling and assembling parts and components on Company heavy vehicles, tractor trailers and forklifts.
- Performs tune ups, brake jobs, and other routine and preventative maintenance on AES heavy vehicles, tractor trailers, forklifts and other vehicles as needed and replaces common parts and makes necessary adjustments.
- Assists drivers with vehicle breakdowns by providing onsite emergency diagnostics and repair services.
- Schedules vehicles for third party extensive repairs or body work as needed and tracks and communicates work extent, cost, timeline etc. with managers.
- Tracks and monitors all vehicle repairs and maintenance in accordance with Company procedures to ensure proper and accurate documentation.
- Completes necessary weekly reports electronically and stores for accessibility as requested by managers.
- Verifies vehicle performance by conducting test drives, adjusting controls and systems.
- Complies with federal and state vehicle requirements by testing engine, safety, and combustion control standards.
- Identifies replacement parts for vehicles, machinery, and other Company vehicles and equipment, researches and makes recommendations for procurement, and places purchase orders, when and as needed.
- Contains costs by using warranty; evaluating service and parts options.
- Keeps supplies ready by inventorying stock, placing orders, verifying receipt.
- Performs all duties safely in accordance with Company procedures and applicable safety requirements.
- Performs all other duties as assigned by the US Trucking / DOT and Fleet Manager.
- High school diploma or GED; Technical Degree in Diesel Engine Repair is required.
- Certification / License – Class A CDL, Cummins Diesel Engine Technician Required, (PACCAR, Kenworth, JPRO, CAT preferred).
- Five (5) to ten (10) years of prior relevant work experience as a diesel mechanic is required.
- Prior work experience in the oil and gas industry would be highly advantageous.
- Forklift operator certification is essential.
- Valid driver's license and the maintenance of a driving record satisfactory to AES.
- Bilingual language abilities (English/Spanish) is a plus.
- Flexibility to work overtime and weekends.
- Excellent driving, loading, and unloading skills.
- Ability to pass a background check, drug screen and fitness test.

While applying advanced diagnostic technology and under minimal supervision, the Diesel Mechanic is responsible for maintaining and repairing AES heavy vehicles, trailers, forklifts and other related vehicles as needed. This position reports directly to the US Trucking / DOT Manager and will interface extensively with the Fleet and Trucking departments.
Estimated annual pay $100,000-$120,000 (hourly starting pay $33.25 plus overtime + quarterly & year-end bonuses).
