Your role in helping us share the future:
U.S. News empowers everyone to thrive. In this position, the Software Developer will you will have the opportunity to leverage your strengths and skills to help people make smart decisions in their everyday lives utilizing data experience


You should definitely have:


  • One year to three years of similar or related experience
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience required
  • Should be familiar with:
  • Relational databases, such as PostgreSQL, Oracle, MySQL, or MS SQL Server
  • Dynamics languages ~ Python, Peri, or Ruby
  • Unixbased operating systems ~ Linux or Mac OS X, along with shells and commandline tools available in those environments.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills

It would be nice if you had:

  • Experience with Python web frameworks, such as Django or Pyramid is a plus.
  • Experience with source control systems, such as Git or Subversion
  • Experience developing against and/or creating JSON based APIs
  • AJAX experience

  • In New York City, the anticipated base salary for this position is $80,000 to $120,000. The actual base salary offered will depend on a variety of factors, including without limitation, the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, interview performance, and if applicable, the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job.
