Due to our continued growth, Atlas Excavating is looking for an experienced Payroll Administrator to join our team The Payroll Administrator is responsible for weekly payroll processing which includes the accurate and timely entry of payroll related items to produce paychecks in accordance with union agreements.

The Payroll Administrator will process a high volume of transactions within a short window of time to meet required deadlines.


Responsibilities for this role shall include:

  • Entering and maintaining new employee information in Foundation, Go Happy, and E-Access systems.
  • Obtaining DOL certifications, union check off forms, and sending union dispatch letters.
  • Processing E-Verify and Indiana new hire reporting.
  • Importing time and equipment hours into the accounting system and ensuring payroll hour accuracy with individual timecards.
  • Maintaining effective and frequent communication with field personnel.
  • Reconciling of timecards to Foundation payroll reports.
  • Timely resolution of discrepancies.
  • Processing of weekly pay checks for direct deposit.
  • Preparing weekly child support and garnishments, as needed.
  • Process weekly payroll tax deposit.
  • Calculating layoff checks.
  • Reconciling monthly union reporting and administering timely payments to various unions.
  • Calculating and submitting monthly target fund reports.
  • Reporting monthly hours and providing annual calculation for INDOT OJT reporting.
  • Providing monthly certified payroll reports to project assistants.
  • Assisting in accounting and payroll audits throughout the year.
  • Modifying and maintaining annual union rate tables in accounting system.
  • Assisting with fuel tank setup and delivery to jobsites.
  • Other accounting or payroll items, as needed.
Minimum of two years of payroll experience, construction industry and/or union experience preferred.

Strong attention to detail, a keen sense of confidentiality and discretion.

Ability to multitask and work independently.

Self-motivated and understands the importance of deadlines.

Ability to communicate effectively.

Proficient in MS Office and ideally possess experience with Foundation, HeavyJob, and Bluebeam.
