    Description

    The Estimator is responsible for surveying projects, estimating labor and material costs, and communicating financial cost and project timelines to the operations teams.

    *Responsibilities
    • Gather proposals, blueprints, specifications and documents related to project
    • Obtain bids from vendors and subcontractors; identify qualified subcontractors and negotiate price
    • Analyze blueprints, specifications, proposals, and other documentation to prepare time, cost, and labor estimates for products, projects, or services
    • Conduct research to obtain data on labor costs, materials, production times etc.
    • Understand customer requirements/specifications to accurately estimate a project
    • Prepare estimates used by management for purposes such as planning, organizing, and scheduling work
    • Prepare reports, quotes and estimates that detail the cost of a project
    • Consult with clients, vendors and personnel in other departments to discuss cost estimates and resolve cost-related issues
    • Prepare relevant and reliable forecasts
    • Conduct risk analysis activities
    • Build and maintain relationships with key customers and vendors
    *Essential Education and Qualifications:

    • High School education or GED, relevant training to engineering and construction
    • Knowledge of business and industry
    • Able to make recommendations and forecasts for future business prospects
    • Strong understanding of cost control efficiencies and job financials
    • General contractual knowledge
    • Strong analytical skills, a keen eye for detail and a deep understanding of research methodologies.
    • Strong math skills and relevant software skills related to the utility construction industry
    • Excellent organizational skills, thoroughness, and reliability
    • Strong communication skills to interact with clients, vendors, subcontractors and internal teammates.
    • PC literate with proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite to include Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.

    The main physical demands of this job include ability to work in an office environment involving the use of normal office machines and sitting at a desk/computer for long periods of time.

    The position does require travel to potential job sites reviewing job conditions and risks associated with projects.
