Position Summary:


A restaurant Front of House Manager is responsible for helping the restaurant meet service, sales, and profit objectives along with supervising and directing associates in daily work activities, and formulating work and break schedules.

In addition, one must strive to maintain good customer and public relations within the community.


Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

GENERAL

  • Must be able to work a flexible work schedule minimum 50 hours work week up to and including weekends and holidays.
  • Promote and cultivate a healthy, harmonious and profitable working relationship with all members of the Slanted Door Group, customers and vendors alike
  • Attend & participate in The Slanted Door Group's meeting as required
  • Exercise good judgment in decisionmaking and reporting issues to The Slanted Door Group.
  • Responsible for effective management schedules and ensuring that the restaurant is properly staffed up to and including working extended days when necessary.
  • Responsible to learn and prepare to manage the FOH team within 3 months of employment to perform all functions of the Restaurant's operations in the absence of the General Manager at any given time.
  • Adapt to changes of company policies and communicate with the team on the new changes
  • Adhere to city and state employment regulations, health and safety regulations at all time
  • Food handler certificate compliant (SNHD Manager Health Card, TAM Card)
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as required by The Slanted Door Group
  • Responsible to maintain constant and continued education to stay on track of wine trends, innovation and sustainability.
  • The FOH Manager will help lead the development of Steps of Service program within the guidelines of the General Manager and Director of Operations.

FINANCES

  • Assisting by overseeing and managing the restaurant to make sound decisions on matters of importance with GM and the Executive Team
  • Assist General Manger to manage P&L to optimize profit, labor and controllable (semifixed) expenses by working with Slanted Door Group executive team.
  • Provide analysis of all sales with specific emphasis on cost, labor and controllable expenses to ensure budgeted goals are achieved and managed on a regular basis.
Organize and implement marketing and promotions

OPERATIONS & CUSTOMER SERVICES

  • Create a culture of excellence by enforcing standards of excellence, best practices, and customer service principles to ensure consistency in operations, food preparation, food quality, and customer experience.
  • Work diligently with internal and external customers, who may require extreme levels of patience, tact and diplomacy in order to diffuse anger, gather information and resolve problems.
  • Maintain a solid relationship with customers and vendors within company values and cultures.
  • Effective floor presence during service hours in all areas to ensure company's standards, are maintained up to and including active participation with tableside service.
  • Manage meal and rest breaks up to and including covering break shifts when necessary.
  • Effective scheduling to include covering shifts for wait staff when necessary
  • Respond to customer complaints, taking prompt and appropriate action to resolve problem and ensure customer satisfaction is maintained

PERSONNEL

  • Provide excellent leadership with ongoing training, supporting both hourly and management team alike and proven ability to resolve conflict resolutions.
  • Recruiting, training, and building a strong team of managers and staff who abide by the company's core values, philosophy, culture and brand.
  • Developing leaders to support the continued growth of the company and creating strategies to build a positive, team atmosphere centered on standards of excellence.
  • Recognize and motivate, manage, train and develop supervisors, and hourly employees through orientations, ongoing feedback, and the establishment of performance expectations and by conducting performance reviews
  • Respond and exercise good judgment on all employee related matters promptly
  • Ensure employee retention is maintained.
  • Prompt response on slanted door group's inquiries and directives up to and including all payroll and benefits related matters until all matters are resolved

Education Requirements:

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • Professional diploma or food services management

Qualifications and Preferred Skills:

  • 3 years prior experience working at a food and beverage establishment, such as a hotel restaurant managing a staff.
  • Strong Knowledge of wine and Sprit trends and the SF dining trends.
  • Proven track record in maintaining strong cost controls, and quality standards
  • Ability to drive profitable growth while continuously improving customer satisfaction
  • Strong leadership skills with proven ability to build relationships with customers
  • Knowledge with Performance Management
  • Excellent interpersonal skil
