    Description

    Overview:

    The Buyer/Planner is responsible for scheduling internal production and assembly and for the purchasing of raw materials, equipment and/or services to support the manufacturing organization. This position will actively manage the supplier base, identify and resolve resource constraints, and will take appropriate actions in order to achieve established schedule and customer commitments. The Buyer/Planner will support the effort in creating a culture of continuous improvement that facilitates effective problem solving, process and product improvement.

    Responsibilities:
    • Processes and monitors standard and blanket purchase orders to assure on-time delivery and achieve effective inventory management.
    • Communicates daily, weekly, and forecasted requirements with internal and external suppliers. Obtains supplier delivery commitments and reconciles open order requirements. Expedites delinquent orders and notifies the appropriate department of any delays.
    • Analyzes and reports metrics and trends on on-time delivery, supplier performance, quality, inventory, price variances (PPV) for products in his/her area of responsibility.
    • Uses Contec systems, the master production schedule, and supplier Kanbans to plan and execute purchase orders for raw materials and purchased finished goods.
    • Leader or participant in internal SOP processes; demand planning and product forecasting
    • Maintains the Supplier and Item Master record in the ERP system (pricing, lead-times and MOQ).
    • Interfaces with other departments such as Production, Planning, Customer Service, Sales, Product Management, Research and Development, Accounting and Quality to meet the customer requested dates identified by the product schedule.
    • Proactively manages finished goods and raw material inventory levels for assigned areas to established targets.
    • Identifies and communicates issues that will delay the Master Production Schedule and adjusts the schedule to meet unforeseen conditions.
    • Develops and adjusts Master Production Schedule to support demand.
    • Collaborates with production management on the status of Kanban levels, work orders in progress, any material availability and/or production issues to ensure the right personnel, equipment capacity, and materials are available as needed.
    • Effectively coordinates with other Purchasing and Logistics team members to ensure material availability to support plans.
    • Collaborates with Program and Sales Management to obtain customer demand forecasts and processes adjustments to raw material acquisition and inventory, production plans, and finished goods inventory.
    • Participates in continuous improvement and cost reduction projects for the assigned areas of responsibility.
    • Participates and works within ISO 9001 quality standards guidelines in accordance with Contecs quality goals.

    Requirements:

    EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

    Bachelors degree (B.A., B.S.) from four-year college or university; or three to five years related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

    4+ years of experience in a buyer or planner role preferred. Experience with ERP system and lean manufacturing is required. Experience with project management either in a training setting or hands on preferred.

    CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

    APICS certification or in- process certification preferred. Memberships in professional organizations

    related to the supply chain management field a plus.
