    Description
    Applied Spectra, Inc. is now accepting applications for a Junior Software Developer.

    As a Junior Software Developer, you will work alongside our experienced team in contributing to the development of our instrumentation control system both in backend hardware control and UI/UX development.

    The primary responsibilities include developing drivers for interfacing with system hardware, writing unit tests, creating intuitive UI controls, and writing user documentation for windows desktop applications.



    Responsibilities


    • Contribute to the development and maintenance of software solutions for laser ablation instrumentation control systems.
    • Develop and maintain hardware drivers for use within existing application frameworks.
    • Provide support in testing by writing unit tests and performing live tests on laser ablation instrumentation.
    • Participate in design and code reviews with senior team members.
    • Learn to plan and manage work when given high level tasks.
    • Develop the fundamentals of good practice in general development tasks which include writing code, maintaining code, defining test requirements, code optimization, documentation, and use of source control in large applications.
    Requirements


    • Bachelors degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, other Engineering Discipline, or related field.
    • Good working knowledge and experience with C/C++/C#
    • Basic experience with developing GUI elements
    • Good understanding of basic database types and implementations (SQL, NoSQL, and the use cases for each)
    • Understating of hardware communication architectures and protocols (Modbus, RS232, Ethernet, USB)
    • Basic understanding of electromechanical systems which includes knowledge in the following areas: motor control, gas system components, digital and analog IO, and motion control systems.
    • Excellent skills with productivity tools including spreadsheets, word processing, presentations, and flowchart.

    Preferred Qualifications


    • Development experience with C#/ .NET / .NET Framework / Prism / Unity Framework Experience
    • UX / UI development experience for windows applications using WPF - DevExpress toolset experience is preferred.
    • Proficiency in standard design patterns such as: Factories, Task based asynchronous pattern (TAP), IOC, and Dependency Injection (DI)
    • Understanding of data manipulations on large datasets and memory optimization techniques

    Salary Description

    $70k - $85k depending on experiences
