Job Summary
The School of Civil & Environmental Engineering ) at the Georgia Institute of Technology invites applications for a postdoctoral fellow position in Prof. Armistead (Ted) Russell's and Dr. Talat Odman's research group.
The Russell/Odman group specializes in air quality engineering and is pursuing the study of the health and environmental impacts of air pollution and related air quality policies.
One of their main research tracks is the development and application of advanced methods to assess the impacts of particular pollution sources.
Ongoing research activities include field studies, evaluation and use of satellite information, air quality modeling, source apportionment, and forecasting at various scales, from local to global.
Through advanced modeling, analysis and evaluations, the group seeks to relate air pollution sources to exposures and support air quality and health policy analyses.
Candidates are expected to demonstrate an exceptional commitment to the teaching and mentoring of students.This position focuses on the impacts of emissions related to the transportation of cargo.
Specifically, this work emphasizes modeling/forecasting airport, seaport, railyard and warehouse emissions, in addition to other emissions, and in their interactions with other emissions.
This position will provide an opportunity to engage in research activities related to environmental justice concerns, developing fine-scale smoke plume models, coupling those models with advanced air quality modeling system, simulating/forecasting the contributions.
Required QualificationsA PhD degree in engineering, atmospheric science, meteorology or closely related field.
