    Job Summary

    The Georgia Department of Education (Ga DOE)- Division of State Schools is looking to fill the position of School Operations Manager. Reporting to the State Schools Director, the selected candidate will oversee a team comprising two Operations Specialists and one Information Technology Manager at the State Schools Central Office. The School Operations Manager plays a crucial role in facilitating communication and collaboration between the three State Schools and various divisions within the GaDOE. This role involves travel. Key responsibilities include:

    Description of Duties

    • Ensure collaboration between Operations Unit staff and school-level Superintendents to support high-performing instructional and residential programs
    • Coordinate effective communication between State Schools and GaDOE divisions
    • Support State Schools in meeting deadlines and ensuring compliance with laws and regulations
    • Develop operational strategies to enhance efficiency and effectiveness
    • Assist in managing budgetary and financial processes
    • Work with stakeholders to support students' safety and wellbeing
    • Implement capital outlay projects and preventative maintenance plans
    • Provide professional learning related to school safety
    • Support a safe residential program for students
    • Collaborate with other Central Office Units to support the State Schools
    • Serve as the Title IX and Sexual Harassment Coordinator
    • Perform other assigned duties

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Experience in managing technology staff
    • Supervisory experience in a residential program
    • Background in policy and procedure development
    • Facilities management experience
    • Knowledge of Title IX
    • Human resources management experience
    • Supervision of school nutrition programs
    • Budget management and resource allocation skills
    • Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL)
    • Strong written English skills

    Candidate requirements: Bachelor's degree in a related field from an accredited college or university, with at least five years of experience managing professional staff, or nine years of experience with five years in management roles equivalent to the assignment level, or five years at the lower level Sr Mgr, Business Ops (GSM012). Education and job-specific experience may be interchangeable on a year-over-year basis to meet job competency requirements.
