Description
We're glad you're exploring our Controls Technician position, and we'd like to share some of the details.

First, you'll need to have a high school diploma or equivalency.

An Associate Degree in Electrical Engineering Technology or a Journeyman card in industrial electricity or a related field is preferred.

You'll also need to have 3-5 years of experience with machine controls.

The main responsibility of this position is to troubleshoot and maintain the electrical control systems on production equipment, specifically troubleshooting and repairing problems with Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) and their related components.

You will be responsible for electrical design of simple PLC programs and the startup, including debug, of complex machinery electrical control systems with support from Automation Engineers.

You'll get to maintain the documentation archive for existing and new equipment control systems and train our maintenance technicians in those new systems.

Documentation is important because this position will be responsible for documenting control improvements through print changes and procedure changes. You'll also get to wire and build electrical panels by reading and interpreting electrical schematics.

You'll lay out components in an electrical cabinet according to prints and you'll have the opportunity to design your own panel layouts as needed.

You'll be the primary interface with our operations, engineering and maintenance teams to determine problems with the equipment.

You will also get to read and interpret electrical drawings, schematics, blueprints, engineering drawings and sketches to identify problems and make appropriate repairs.

This position is in a fast-paced production environment, and you will need to be able to access all areas of operation.

You will be sitting and working at a computer for extended periods of time, and you'll occasionally need to lift up to 75 pounds.
