Select Chemistry's Logistics Specialist performs and provides general scheduling, dispatch and related logístical functions support from the corporate office. Resolves routine and complex inquiries/questions via correspondence or telephone contacts in area of responsibility within guidelines established by supervisor. Assists field logistics personnel with directing deliveries to the facility or customer location, as needed. Tracks and monitors equipment assignments. Assists with freight payment process and supports field personnel on TMS training, etc.

The essential job functions include, but are not limited to

  • Logistics planning support of internal drivers and equipment with Select locations.
  • Engage, manage and report on shipments that deviate from expectations and/or incidents.
  • Determine 3rd party carrier needs for specific loads, negotiate spot rates when necessary and arrange accordingly.
  • Manage internal requests from sales representatives, customer service, supply chain or field personnel and coordinate logistics plans accordingly.
  • Administrative responsibilities for maintaining internal Transportation Management System (TMW).
  • Inclusive of, but not limited to, updating 3rd party and internal asset rate tables, mapping with AX and O/D locations accuracy.
  • Logistics planning for shipment optimization within the Select network and with Select customers.
  • Maintain TMW accuracy on load information and rating (pricing).
  • Provide research support for Accounting and Logistics on shipment pricing, invoice accuracy and load data.
  • Critical and strategic thinking/problem solving on behalf of the business.
  • Main point of contact for TMW Training and maintenance of SOP integrity.
  • Monitor supplier performance including, ontime delivery, shipment compliance, etc. in conjunction with a quality management program.
  • Manages month end settling process for internal drivers.
  • Crosstrain with Logistics Specialist on backoffice processes including but not limited to Imaging and invoice processing.
  • Enforce Select HSE requirements with Select 3rd party carriers.
  • Assist in new supplier setup and the maintenance of existing suppliers.

The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required:


  • Minimum of 5 years Logistics Planning in a similar operation is preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of DOT regulations around hazmat is preferred.
  • Must be proficient in utilizing a computer.
  • Must be proficient and comfortable working with dispatch software.
  • College Degree Required.
  • A working knowledge of People Net and TMW software is a PLUS.
  • Must be self
- motivated and organized with the ability to work individually and as a team player.

Compensation Information
Compensation is competitive and commensurate with experience.

Physical Demands and Exposures

  • Environment will be extremely noisy and chaotic at times.
  • Need to have a high degree of concentration in a busy area.
  • Must sit for extended periods of time.
  • Monday through Sunday, overtime as required (24hr business operations).
  • Ability to individually lift: Maximum 25 lbs.
