Keystone Utility Systems (KUS) is hiring Full-time/Temp Water Meter Field Technicians for installation work for a project in Alexandria, VA.

We are a specialized full-service utility contractor headquartered in Luzerne, PA with a focus on AMR/AMI system implementation and management for water meter projects across the US.


In this hands-on field role, you would be responsible for performing a wide variety of duties related to the installation, maintenance, repair, calibration, replacement, testing, and reading of meters as well as backflow testing.

Primary duties include interfacing with customers inside their homes and businesses regarding meter related issues; removal and replacement of defective outside reading devices; testing and calibration of meters:
installation and replacement of cellar fittings: testing of backflow. Projects duration can be 4-6 months depending duration. If you are open for travel, we can assign you to other regional or national projects as well.


Job Requirements:


  • 1 year of utility field experience preferred (water, gas, electric, plumbing etc) or related experience.
  • Valid Driver's License with 5 or more years driving experience and clean driving record.
  • Use of your vehicle (SUV/Truck/Van) and proof of car insurance policy.
  • Supply own basic tools including channel locks, pipe wrench, shovel, utility bucket, and wire strippers.
  • Basic cell phone or tablet proficiency.
  • A High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) equivalent.
  • All hires must pass a Criminal Background screening and Motor Vehicle Department Records Check.
  • Physical Requirements: Bend and stoops regularly, uses hand tools including shovel, drill and wrenches. May walk for longer distances and/or drive from meter location to meter location, exiting and entering vehicle often. Locations may be outdoor or indoor that may have exposure to dust, pollen, inclement weather, temperature extremes and traffic hazards.

Pay Details:
$22-26 an hour, paid weekly. On-the-job training is provided.


Work Schedule:
The typical work schedule for this position is Monday - Friday 8am

  • 4:30pm 8 hour shifts, minimum of 40 hrs a week with the option for overtime OT hours weekdays until 6:30pm and working Saturdays 8am4:30pm for the project duration.
