This position is a 3-month contract with a Children's Hospital in the North Austin / Cedar Park area.
Schedule Notes:
**Will be alternating shifts, but mainly night shift and weekends
- call as needed, 40 hours/week**
Pay: $70.50/hour
Duties:
- Checks room daily for adequate stock necessary to facilitate continuous exam flow. Maintains appropriate inventory as
- Confirms patient identity with approved identifiers.
- Demonstrating age appropriate care with all patients, appropriately prepares patients for procedures.
- Verifies patient's pregnancy and informed consent statuses.
- Assesses factors that may contraindicate the procedure; such as, medication contraindications, patient risk for reaction to
- Based on order, determines type and dose of contrast agent to be administered based on patient's age, weight and
- Anticipates and responds to patients needs throughout the entire encounter.

- Provides clear and detailed information regarding the procedure to the patient, family and others. Addresses
independent practitioner.
- Provides information to patients, health care providers, students and the public concerning the role and responsibilities of
- Provides a positive experience to students in role as a clinical instructor.
- Maintains current knowledge on equipment, materials, medications and processes.
- Seeks experiences and knowledge in the technical and clinical areas to gain expertise.
Skills:
Performance of exceptional quality routine and specialized CT procedures at the request licensed independent practitioner for
interpretation by radiologists. The CT Specialist integrates scientific knowledge; technical skills, patient interaction and
compassionate care resulting in diagnostic information, and recognizes patient conditions essential for successful completion
of the procedure. The CT Specialist must demonstrate a detailed understanding of human anatomy, physiology, pathology
and medical terminology. CT technologists must maintain a high degree of accuracy in positioning and exposure technique.
They must possess, utilize, maintain and enhance knowledge of radiation safety and protection for self, patients and others.
The CT technologist prepares, administers and document activities related to mediations in accordance with state regulations
and institution policy. The CT Specialist is a liaison between patients, radiologist and other members of the support team.
They must remain sensitive to the needs of the patient through good communication, and exceptional patient care skills. As
members of the health care team, they must participate in quality improvement processes and continually assess their
professional performance. The CT Specialist must think critically, use independent, professional and ethical judgment in all
aspects of their work, and they must engage in continuing education to include their area of practice to enhance patient care,
public education, knowledge and technical competence. They are responsible for patient care, appropriate documentation,
quality control, and quality improvement, and they provide training, education and mentoring to students, technologists,
nursing, residents, fellows, staff and others. Maintains a safe and hazard free environment.
Education:
Graduate of a formal diagnostic Radiology program
