    Description
    *Nationwide Skilled Trades is looking for shipfitters for a shipyard in Houma, LA.

    *Job Description for 1st Class Shipfitters:
    • The Shipfitters are responsible for accomplishing work in accordance with work specifications safely, with the highest quality and in a professional manner.
    • Lays out and fabricates metal structural parts, such as plates, bulkheads, and frames, and braces them in position within hull of ship for welding.
    • Lays out position of parts on metal, working from blueprints or templates and using scribe and handballs. Locates and marks reference lines, such as center, buttock, and frame lines.
    • Aligns parts in relation to each other, using jacks, turnbuckles, clips, wedges and mauls.
    • Marks location of holes to be drilled and installs temporary fasteners to hold part in place for welding.
    • Installs packing, gaskets, liners and structural accessories and members, such as doors, hatches, brackets and clips.
    • May tack weld clips and brackets in place prior to permanent welding.
    • Rig chain falls.
    *Requirements for 1st Class Shipfitters:
    • Minimum of 53 years' experience in ship fitting
    • Be able to comprehend blueprints, sketches, and templates
    • Able to pass a written and hand on assessment

    • The Marine Electrician is responsible for maintaining and repairing electrical and mechanical equipment onboard ships at a shipyard in Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin. $28 an hour plus $150 a day in per diem.
    *Requirements for the Marine Electrician:
    • Minimum of 7 years' experience in the marine electrician field and must pass marine electrician assessments.
    • Proven track record in successful completion of projects involving DDC systems commissioning, software integration, calibration, or troubleshooting.
    • Ability to produce and interpret mechanical and electrical drawings.
    • Able to manipulate heavy equipment, tools, supplies and/or exertion of force up to 50 pounds.
    • Pre-employment drug screen and background check.
