Position Information
The 1890 Extension Office invites resumes for a full-time, exempt, twelve months contractual Contingent II position with limited benefits. Salary is commensurate with experience and qualifications.
The Senior Legal Research Associate will assist with developing and delivering Agriculture Law Education Initiative (ALEI) services, including legal research, writing and educational assistance.

Responsibilities

• Assist with development, distribution, collection, analysis and reporting of needs assessment surveys Research and write ALEI program material and legal publications for a non-legal audience.
• Develop and deliver education regarding legal analysis through written materials and presentations for various stakeholder groups.
• Coordinate and organize meetings, presentations and ALEI programs as needed.
• Network and interact, as well as support effective partnerships with key groups and individuals.
• Attend virtually as well as travel independently for programs, events and meetings throughout Maryland and Chesapeake Bay region as needed (and pursuant to public health and UMES protocols).
• Performs other related duties assigned

Required Qualifications

• J.D. from an ABA-Accredited law school.
• Interest in pursuing a career in the area(s) of agriculture, natural resource management, protection, or stewardship, or public policy or law of agricultural or rural communities.
• Excellent research, writing and oral communication skills.
• Demonstrated commitment to advancing diversity.
• Ability to work independently .

Preferred Qualifications

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

• Demonstrated interest in public education or public speaking
• Experience using Google applications, PowerPoint
