JOB DESCRIPTION:

Work Experience Mandatory:

• Requires no less than 10 years of Technical Editing/Copywriting experience

• Requires previous experience with writing to the DHS Writing Style Guide (Approximately 2 years is desired) or comparable experience.

• Requires previous experience/use of the CISA House Style Guide and CISA Writing Style Guide or comparable experience.

• Requires previous experience in writing policy content using various materials, including NIST standards

• Requires previous experience in drafting content for multiple mediums, such as: social media posts, internal emails, talking points, briefings, memos, website content, presentations, reports, etc.

• Requires Drupal experience

• Requires experience in working with an Executive Secretariat Team

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Technical Editor

The Technical Editor shall review written material and revise it for clarity, grammar, style, and content. Duties also include copy editing OBP materials by reviewing style and formatting to ensure documents meets CISA and OBP guidelines; proofreading document and written products for correct grammar and spelling, and making suggestions to writers, and completing the final review before submittal or publication; creating style guides to help and train writers on CISA and OBP preferred style and writing voice; producing templates help writers produce documents; verifying information to ensure information is correct. This can involve checking facts, reviewing resources, or conducting additional research; generating new content ideas using a creative process to suggest new content or brainstorm ideas with OBP personnel; collaborating with other writers and subject experts to create quality content, revise materials, and ensure accuracy; and revising for a target audience.

WORK HOURS

Contractor employees shall generally perform all work between the hours of 0800 and 1700 EST, Monday through Friday (except Federal holidays). However, there may be occasions when Contractor employees shall be required to work other than normal business hours, including weekends and holidays, to fulfill requirements under this SOW.

TRAVEL REQUIRED

Government outside the local commuting area(s) will be reimbursed to the Contractor in accordance with the Federal Travel Regulations. The Contractor shall be responsible for obtaining COR approval (electronic mail is acceptable) for all reimbursable travel in advance of incurring travel expenses. All associated requirements with travel, will be conducted in Huntsville Alabama, USA. If applicable the contractor will be required to travel from 1110 North Glebe Road, Alexandria, VA 22201 to future identified locations within Huntsville Alabama, USA. Travel will not exceed a total of five (5) trips per authorized/exercised period of performance following the Base Year.
