    The JHU SOE Master of Education ( Teaching Professionals is hiring a STEM Teacher Education Faculty Member.

    The Johns Hopkins University (JHU) School of Education (SOE) invites applications for a promotion-track, open rank STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) Teacher Education Faculty Member. We are seeking a dynamic, experienced STEM Teacher Educator who will play a crucial role in shaping the future of education by supporting and developing current and aspiring STEM teachers in a new Master of Education for Teaching Professionals program. Candidates will help design and implement an innovative teacher training program, while providing guidance, mentoring, and professional development to STEM educators. These efforts will directly impact the quality of STEM education and inspire the next generation of innovators and problem-solvers. Applications will be accepted immediately. The start date is negotiable (for January or July ).

    This faculty position is housed within the Department of Innovative Teaching and Leadership. Primary responsibilities include teaching, curriculum development, teacher training, technology integration, educational research, and collaboration within the School of Education and across the university and broader community. The proposed program supports SOE's mission to generate?knowledge to?inform policy and practice and educate?society to address the most important challenges faced by individuals, schools, and communities.

    The Master of Education for Teaching Professionals will prepare candidates to become secondary STEM educators for grades 7-12 classrooms. The program addresses teaching holistically by developing professional educators who:

    deeply understand themselves and their learners;

    are reform-minded and equity-oriented

    possess extensive pedagogical and technological content knowledge;

    can integrate academic content through immersive, evidence and inquiry-based instruction focusing on sustainable development; and

    can integrate academic content through immersive, evidence and inquiry-based instruction focusing on sustainable development, allowing K-12 students to address and explore solutions to address real-world problems impacting society, such as climate change, disaster risk reduction, equity, and sustainable consumption.

    Qualifications

    Required Qualifications

    Doctorate in Education, STEM Education, or related field

    A strong background in STEM fields with a focus on pedagogical expertise

    Experience in teacher education, curriculum development, and educational leadership

    Experience working with diverse populations, including underrepresented groups and learners with varying needs and abilities

    Excellent communication and presentation skills to effectively convey complex concepts to diverse audiences

    Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and foster positive working relationships with program students, K-12 teachers and leaders, and university partners

    Passion for promoting STEM education and inspiring educators to foster a love for STEM subjects in students

    Demonstrated accomplishments in and commitment to conducting educational research and grant writing

    Commitment to continuous learning and professional development

    Preferred Qualifications

    Familiarity with national and state STEM educational standards and initiatives

    Knowledge of current trends and advancements in educational technology and its application in STEM classrooms

    Demonstrated ability to lead and mentor other educators, including aspiring educators, early career teachers, and colleagues

    Willingness to stay updated with emerging trends in STEM education, adapt to changing educational landscapes, and innovate teaching approaches accordingly

    Substantial teaching experience in K-12 educational settings

    The School of Education has two faculty tracks: one focused on research and one focused on teaching and program development. This position is open to candidates with either focus.
