    ORGANIZATION SUMMARY
    Cornerstone is a $5.4 M agency with approximately 100 employees. Our organization serves individuals impacted by domestic violence, sexual violence, human trafficking, and general crime. We have office locations in Bloomington, Minneapolis, and Brooklyn Center.
    Cornerstone has developed one of the most comprehensive service continuums for victims of violence in Minnesota. Our services are designed to move individuals and families from crisis to safety, stabilization and security. Last year approximately 4,000 individuals accessed Cornerstone programming.

    In addition, through Cornerstone's statewide Day One Crisis and Crime Victim Support lines, we provided services to over 20,000 persons via phone, text and chat.

    Position Summary


    Provides intensive individual advocacy and case management services including financial literacy training and coaching, employment readiness and job search assistance, housing search and advocacy in a knowledgeable, empathetic manner to victims of violence and abuse.

    The focus of the position is on assisting participants with increasing financial capability through accessing/maintaining stable housing and income supports, building assets, retaining or advancing in employment, building assets, and increasing safety.

    Services are provided in office, in the participant's residence or in the community. Work schedule is flexible including days, evenings and weekends to accommodate the participants scheduling needs. A minimum of one evening per week is required.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities

    Implement financial literacy curriculum at various locations that serve survivors of violence and abuse.

    Provide individual economic advocacy and support to survivors as they attempt to resolve the practical problems of living that have resulted from poverty and/or violence.

    Establish weekly meetings with survivors in order to assist with the development of an individual goal plan, credit action plan, cost of living plan, and safety plan – and to evaluate progress and celebrate successes.

    Meet with emergency services participants prior to program exit to describe and offer on-going community services programming. Complete initial assessments, developing necessary linkages, and resource referrals as appropriate.
    Provide documentation of all services delivered, through ongoing charting and completing monthly service reports.
    Act as liaison with referring agencies.
    Group and educational workshop facilitation
    Provide transportation as needed to facilitate goal attainment for participants
    Keep accurate records of phone calls and in-person contacts.
    Use assessment tools on a pre-determined basis to track participant progress and address barriers.
    Maintain participant program file including safety plan, completion of workshops/educational programming and progress on goals.
    All other duties as assigned by supervisor.
    Administrative Responsibilities

    Completes data entry in a timely manner.
    Organizational Expectations

    Works collaboratively as a team member and across all CAS programs; attends departmental staff meetings as scheduled; participates on internal CAS committees as assigned; attends staff meetings and trainings as assigned; provides support and attends CAS events (i.e. Volunteer Recognition, DVAM activities, etc.) as assigned or as able; and supports CAS marketing initiatives and promotes CAS Mission and Philosophy. Displays high ethical/professional standards; represents CAS on external committees as assigned.
    Qualifications/Education/Experience

    Bachelor's Degree in Social Work or related field, Master's Degree preferred. Minimum of three years of experience working with families impacted by interpersonal violence and abuse.

    In-depth knowledge of the intersection of poverty and family violence, safety planning, dynamics of abuse and economic advocacy, and demonstrates the ability to maximize family strengths in a culturally competent way.

    Preference given to persons who are bilingual, English-Spanish. Reliable car, valid driver's license and proof of automobile insurance.

    The employee should always request assistance if any object needs to be lifted and the employee feels that their capabilities are such that the specific item to be lifted is beyond the employees abilities.

    No employee should attempt to lift more than what is comfortable for them.

    If such a situation should arise the employee should notify their supervisor to find help with lifting any item regardless of weight if the object to be lifted is awkward or difficult to lift in any way.
