Job Summary
Primarily responsible for various inspection operations associated with the sand-casting process and packaging parts following inspection for transport.


Essential Functions

  • Must partner with the engineering, welding, and rework departments to provide customers with acceptable castings that meet both purchase order and blueprint specifications.
  • Work closely with quality, rework, supervisory and engineering personnel to meet customers' expectations and deadlines.
  • Inspect all castings according to established department policies and procedures.
  • Comply with the Company's safety policies and procedures.
  • Perform all other jobrelated tasks as assigned.

Skills or Experience Required

  • The ability to organize and manage multiple priorities.
  • Ability to learn and understand instructions and criteria unique to each part.
  • Knowledge of visual casting defects.
  • Capable of performing dimensional inspection using both fixtures and measuring devices.
  • Ability to perform various inspection operations associated with the sandcasting process.
  • Ability to understand and calculate geometric tolerances.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to: walk, sit, occasionally required to bend, stoop, and kneel, talk, and hear. Use hands for handling packing material, parts and shipping containers to package and seal product designed for shipping.
  • Use hands to measure products utilizing Standard Measuring Equipment such as Calipers, Dial Indicators, Snap Gages, Rulers, Height Gages, Micrometers, etc.
  • Occasionally required to move product with Hand Trucks. This activity also requires the ability to bend and pick up baskets of material nominally 40 pounds in weight and stacking one basket upon another to transport with the Hand Truck.
  • Occasionally required to lift and/or move up to 40 pounds of product contained in wire baskets.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to high temperatures in the summer months. The noise level in the work environment is usually mínimal.

While some tasks may require additional PPE (Personal Protective Equipment), standard safety equipment that must be worn while on the floor as follows:


  • Safety Glasses
  • Ear Plugs
  • Safety Boots (Steel or Composite Toe)
