The Department of Anatomic Pathology at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania is seeking a Lead Histotechnologist to join their team:

Summary:


The Lead Histotechnologist is employed in a clinical laboratory setting and is responsible for the performance of procedures according to established and approved protocols, which require the exercise of independent judgment and interpretation.

The Lead Histotechnologist performs procedures in routine histotechnology, special stains, as well as instrument maintenance and quality control standards.

The incumbent will assist section leadership in the oversight of laboratory operations, including scheduling, staffing, and acting as a point person for troubleshooting and problem solving.

The incumbent may lead selected duties when requested or in the absence of the Technical Manager/Technical Supervisor.


Responsibilities:


Credentials:

  • American Society for Clinical Pathology (required)
  • Certification by a minimum standards exam such as the Board of Certification HTL (ASCP) or eligible to take such an exam

Education or Equivalent Experience:

  • Bachelor of Arts or Science in Histotechnology or other biological or chemical science or U.S. equivalent (substantiated by foreign credential evaluation statement) (required)
  • Master of Arts or Science in Science or Management (preferred)
  • Qualified to perform highcomplexity testing per the Clinical Laboratory Improvement Act (required)
  • And 5+ years experience in the Histology/Immunohistochemistry laboratory at UPHS or equivalent (required)
  • Prior experience with Laboratory Information Systems/Penn Chart (preferred)
