Summary:
Compliance Specialist assists both the Sr. Compliance Specialist and the Chief Compliance Officer to ensure compliance with Preferred Source legislation and oversight agency requirements.


Essential Functions, Responsibilities and Primary Duties:

  • Perform field-based Compliance Reviews of Member Agencies' and Corporate Partners' compliance with Preferred Source legislation and NYSID's Designation Agreement by the NYS Education Department (SED).
  • Document observations and gather evidence during Compliance Reviews to determine the work performed, labor pool employed, compensation of labor pool and benefits provided.
  • Review medical documentation reflecting the nature and extent of the disability or disabilities to insure individuals qualify as significantly disabled as per SED's definition of disability.
  • Following all Compliance Reviews, advise Member Agencies and Corporate Partners of findings.
  • Formulate a plan of corrective action for Member Agency and Corporate Partners found to be out of compliance so that they align business practices with contract and program requirements; follow up to ensure corrective action plans are executed.
  • Assist with Quarterly Employment Report backup reviews.
  • While conducting onsite Compliance Reviews, meet with key stakeholders to address any questions, concerns or training needs.
  • Engage in outreach with prospective Member Agencies.
  • Engage in outreach with State & local government officials regarding the benefits and value of the Preferred Source Program.
  • Some NYS travel required.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration or related areas of study.
  • Minimum 35 years' experience in compliance or related work.
  • Excellent analytical skills.
  • Strong communication (written and verbal), interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Knowledge of and experience in Preferred Source or the rehabilitative industry preferred.

Nature of job requires considerable travel. The position requires an individual to access any location where company business is conducted. Must have visual acuity and hearing ability for communicating with others, and gathering and accessing written and computerized information. Computer and mouse usage, walking around facilities and sitting for long periods of time.

$58, $60,000.00 per year
