PURPOSE AND SUMMARY STATEMENT

  • Responsible for the procurement, coordination, and supply of Crop Protection portfolio products to meet the demands of the member cooperatives for both the U.S. and Canadian markets.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Serves as the primary backup for the CP Supply & Operations Manager.
  • Responsible for various supply chain aspects of a $1+ billion Crop Protection business involving approximately 3,000 actively selling US items and 1,000 Canadian items. Coordinates with various business leaders to identify appropriate supply needs and make effective sourcing decisions. Utilizes qualified suppliers while implementing technologies, processes, policies and procedures to support an efficient, effective and profitable supply chain process.
  • Responsible for learning dozens of key active ingredients used in the manufacturing of CP products. This knowledge provides the basis for recommending alternative products to customers in times of short supply.
  • Maintains and administers MRP levels and safety stock ordering of crop protection products at up to 3 GROWMARK distribution centers with annual sales totals ranging from $70 to $200 million.
  • Maintains and updates material information within the Sales & Inventory tracking file used to monitor all warehouse sales.
  • Tracks monthly and annual sales history by warehouse location and maintains appropriate inventory levels on up to 4,000 items based on previous sales history for the upcoming months.
  • Identifies excess inventory levels based on sales history and gives priority to moving those volumes internally between warehouses before purchasing additional product.
  • Minimizes interest expense on owned inventory by purchasing and staging products in increments that are representative of historical monthly sales history.
  • Takes advantage of vendorsponsored incentivized purchase programs while taking into consideration sales history, inventory levels, payment terms and alternative brands already in GROWMARK ownership.
  • Manages Crop Protection supply chain inventories to ensure ample supply of cost competitive product is staged ahead of member demand to effectively meet their needs in a consistent manner. Ensures inventory management is aligned with the department's and customers' overall marketing plans and strategies. Strategically selects products based on vendor pricing and/or product quality.
  • Monitors and reports warehouse inventory for slow moving and obsolete inventory products. Monitors, reconciles and manages consignment inventories.
  • Responsible for monitoring backordered sales order items and communicating anticipated ETA's to retail accounts. In those backorder situations, is also responsible for recommending alternative products to be used, determining if excess product can be moved internally from another warehouse and ultimately deciding if additional product needs to be purchased.
  • Responsible for directing warehouse bulk repack functions based on customer demand.
  • Responsible for tracking manufacturer ETA's of warehouse purchase orders.
  • Responsible for monitoring and communicating the status of all allocated Crop Protection products to the Crop Protection team and customers. Collaborates with the Customers and Crop Protection team regarding alternative product availability and planning for the allocated products. Aligns purchase order quantities to correlate with manufacturer allocations.
  • Coordinates with vendors to receive appropriate credits when damaged materials are received or items are shortshipped.
  • Manages and administers the Crop Protection product return program and is responsible for the approval of returns to the warehouse and GROWMARK Suppliers based on customer's historical purchases, item return restrictions and current item pricing relative to price when product was sold to retailer.
  • Maintains system metrics specific to job functions
  • Inventory turnover, purchase order cycle time, backorder fulfillment time, carrying costs, etc.
  • Responsible for defining logístical savings by utilizing GROWMARK freight instead of vendor provided freight when advantageous. Collaborates with the Logistics Department to ensure that delivery and order service programs are efficient and economical for GROWMARK as well as member cooperatives.
  • As needed, reconciles vendor invoices in the Vendor Invoice Management system. Collaborates with Order Processing Services (OPS) to investigate and bring resolution to Supplier invoice discrepancies.
  • Coordinates and administers the reporting of GROWMARK System inventories to suppliers, according to the specific inventory protection programs maximizing available inventory protection dollars.
  • Routinely reconciles GROWMARK physical warehouse inventories with SAP inventory levels.
