Overview:

Starting pay for this position is $17.14/hour.
***: Reporting to the Manager and Assistant Patient Care Manager and according to department policies provide appropriate basic nursing care to patients based on the ages of the patients served on the unit(age newborn through adult). This includes but not inclusive to taking vital signs, specimen collection, point of care testing, assisting anesthesia, transporting patients, directing families as needed, completing inventory and restocking supplies as needed for the department, and observing patients for physical/emotional changes. He/she will assist the RN in the care of perioperative patients according to department guidelines. He/she will communicate pertinent information to other patient care team members to ensure continuity of care. The following are general characteristics of this job, although duties may vary by assigned unit.


Qualifications:

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:


  • Must be at least 18 years old to be considered for this position

Licenses/Certifications:

  • CPR in BLS through American Heart Association

Other Skills/Knowledge:

  • Ability to read, write, communicate effectively, understand and follow instructions as normally acquired through completion of high school.
  • If hired, must have 3 to 6 months of unitspecific orientation and onthejob training to become familiar with work routines, priorities, and location of applicable equipment and supplies, and develop proficiency in maintaining surgical supplies and equipment
  • Capable of providing patient care appropriate to the age of the patients served on their unit
  • Basic understanding of communication equipment such as pagers and phones
  • Ability to read, write, communicate effectively, understand and follow instructions.
  • Interpersonal skills necessary to comfort patients, family members and/or significant others, and to communicate effectively with other patient care providers.
  • Analytical abilities necessary to prioritize the work load
