Summary:
The incumbent is responsible for the coordination of activities required to maintain the daily operation of all of the automated dispensing, production and compounding equipment in the Department of Pharmacy.
The incumbent is also responsible for the review and follow-up of quality assurance assignments made to update and maintain the contents of automated dispensing and packaging equipment.
The incumbent will need to coordinate automated equipment activities with future changes implemented in the Department's pharmacy computer system (PCSI), the PYXIS medication dispensing system, as well as packaging and compounding systems.
The incumbent will create and review reports to follow and guide quality assurance activities. The incumbent will exemplify the Rush mission, vision and values and act in accordance with Rush policies and procedures.Other information:
Required Job Qualifications:
Demonstrates outstanding competence in both written and verbal communication skills.
Possesses excellent interpersonal skills.
Demonstrates a high level of competency in troubleshooting and maintaining automated equipment.
Demonstrates competency in generating and analyzing reports.
Successfully reviews and improves the quality of service to be provided by maintaining automated equipment in its most efficient state.
Certified Pharmacy Technician (PTCB).Preferred Job Qualifications:
Some college level coursework.
Responsibilities:
- Keep up to date user lists of automated equipment making additions and deletions of users as needed to keep those files current.
- Reviews medication usage patterns associated with automated dispensing devices and packaging equipment to make adjustments to inventories in coordination with the pharmacy operations assistant director.
- Reviews discrepancies generated by automated dispensing equipment and seek resolution with nursing and pharmacy personnel.
- Provide reports and usage information to pharmacy unit managers for review and use in managing their operational areas.
- Follows-up on refill activities and spot check equipment contents for filling accuracy and compliance with the refill procedure.
- Assist the operations manager with policy and procedure development involving automated equipment operation and usage.
- Troubleshoot equipment hardware problems and seek resolution either by repairs internally or by calling in for service and coordinating for system repair.
- Update automated equipment databases; at times working with the Pharmacy Information Systems Data Coordinator for information.
