The department is currently seeking an experienced and professional Grant Writer (Writer 2) to collaborate with our faculty and research administration team to manage the proposal preparation on industry grants, contracts, program projects, and federal grants, both routine and complex. The ideal candidate should have demonstrated experience with successful complex grant proposal preparation, enjoy interacting and working with many different people and teams, be able to follow through in a fast-paced environment, adapt well to changing priorities, anticipate and plan for tight deadlines, employ critical thinking in daily tasks, and be a self-starter.
Duties include:
·Develop and research ideas for written publication/communication on topics of moderate complexity.
·Consult with internal and external customers to understand the need and purpose of a project.
·Compose written material.
·Develop, compile and edit supplemental materials that support written communication (i.e., backgrounders, biographies, executive talking points, and other related materials).
·Establish and maintain extensive contacts with key sources (media, news services, community organizations and other targeted audiences) to identify story themes and newsworthy events to promote and disseminate information.
·Maintain department style standards.

This role is open to candidates anywhere in the United States. Stanford University has five Regional Pay Structures. The compensation for this position will be based on the location of the successful candidate. The expected pay range for this position is $63,000-$112,000/ annum.
Stanford University provides pay ranges representing its good faith estimate of what the university reasonably expects to pay for a position. The pay offered to a selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget availability, internal equity, geographic location, and external market pay for comparable jobs.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
experience with NIH grant writing strongly preferred; ideal candidate will have experience in grant writing for the vision sciences or related area
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE (REQUIRED):
Bachelor's degree and five years of related experience, or a combination of education and related experience.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (REQUIRED):
·Proven success in writing for publication in print, web, and other platforms.
·Excellent writing, interpersonal, and oral communication skills with proven ability to present, write, edit, and organize thoughts in a clear, concise, and well-organized manner.
·Ability to understand materials of moderate complexity and synthesize across multiple sources to produce materials for diverse audiences.
·Ability to change voice and writing style to fit a particular audience and purpose.
·Firm understanding of web technologies and applications, including social networking, social media tools, and current communication trends.
·Excellent interpersonal skills and able to interact effectively with a diverse array of people, including senior leaders.
·Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
·Ability to manage and prioritize multiple deadlines.
·Excellent time management skills.

·Constantly perform desk-based computer tasks.
·Frequently stand/walk, sit, grasp lightly/fine manipulation, and use a telephone, writing by hand.
