Summary

Develop, implement and manage wellness program initiatives and events that create awareness and motivation

energetic, professional, self-motivated, and detail-oriented with the ability to meet deadlines while juggling

multiple projects/tasks.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in exercise science, public health or related field
  • Experience with planning, implementing, and measuring programs based around ROI
  • Certification from a nationally recognized organization or a minimum of 2 years of Wellness Coordinator
experience


Nationally-recognized certifications/ certifying bodies include:

  • The American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM)
  • Certified Health Fitness Specialist (HFS)
  • Physical Activity in Public Health (PAPH)
  • The National Commission for Health Education Credentialing (NCHEC)
  • Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES)
  • The Wellness Council of America (WELCOA)
  • National Wellness Institute (NWI)

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a spokesperson for wellness to stimulate interest in healthy lifestyle behaviors
  • Develop, promote and oversee employee wellness activities for breaks, after work and before work
(including but not limited to:
fitness orientations and consultations, health screenings and health risk

assessments, health and fitness fairs, awareness events and motivational contests)

  • Coordinate wellness efforts with community wellness activities to maximize participation, (i.e. walkathons, organized runs, charity events that involve a physical activity component, cooking courses, etc.).
  • Serve as Chairperson of the Countywide Wellness Committee. Recruit wellness champions within each
department

  • Work closely with wellness champions regarding wellness initiatives to promote yearround wellness
activities

  • Work with administration and management to support a wellness program and to become advocates of
it themselves.

  • Work with departments to discuss their particular wellness needs and incorporate wellness activities
into meetings, daily work and other department functions.

  • Work with employees to meet their wellness goals whether personal or goals set through the Health
Risk Assessment program. Develop opportunities for employees to meet these goals.

  • Liaison with local health representatives and community resources to promote yearround wellness
initiatives

  • Coordinate, prepare and distribute all pre and post program/event communications, advertising and/or
public relations materials

  • Develop a system to evaluate the effectiveness of the wellness program and evaluate the wellness
program on an ongoing basis and report program effectiveness to the Wellness Committee and Risk

Management

  • Coordinate the use of facilities for wellness activities, i.e. pools, gyms, facility sidewalks, parks, etc.
  • Define areas at the various facilities where wellness activities can take place, i.e. marking off walking
paths both indoor and outdoor, open grassy areas for activities, etc.

  • Coordinate with Health Center, healthcare providers and EAP to provide wellness and health education,
seminars, webinars and onsite learning/training. Create employee awareness of the services of these

entities. Coordinate, prepare and distribute all pre and post program/event communications, advertising
