Smyth Industries Welding/ Fabrication Division is currently searching for an individual with Water Infrastructure Industry experience as a
Field Welding/Fabrication Technician** to help enhance our current team.

We provide full-service electrical, civil, manufacturing, engineering and general contracting services for the water and reclamation industry.

In your job, you will have the ability to make a difference in the water and reclamation industry by:

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Exhibit technical knowledge and experience in the welding and fabrication trade experience.
Provide effective project communication, both orally and in writing.
Ability to understand and work from shop drawings.
Ability to thrive in a team environment and work with other divisions.
Complete nonroutine task as assigned.
Maintain tools, vehicles, and equipment and keep parts and supplies in order.
Perform skilled, semiskilled, and unskilled laboring duties related to installation, maintenance, and repair of a wide variety of welding and fabrication tasks.
Reassemble equipment, using hand tools.
Ability to select tools to complete daily job tasks.
Proficient in the use of basic hand tools to perform daily job functions: screwdrivers, pliers, wrenches, cordless drills, hand operated saw, level, grinders, etc.
Fabricating water tanks in the field or shop using common arc welding techniques such as tig, arc, mig, spray transfer, and spot.
General site cleanup, digging trenches, staging material, or all other duties as assigned.

People

Mentor field staff to develop ways to more efficiently complete assigned tasks while building a strong team environment.
Develop a team relationship with other divisions sharing resources to successfully complete projects on time and under budget.
Establish and maintain working relationships with owners, agencies, subcontractors, inspectors, etc., providing customer service to develop longterm partnerships with client base and stakeholders.
Mentor field staff to develop ways to more efficiently complete assigned tasks while building a strong team environment.
Develop a team relationship with other divisions.
Ability to lead a team, complete project assigned tasks, while working under mínimal supervision

Minimum Qualifications

14 years of welding and fabrication experience.
Maintain the appropriate certification for the specific welding techniques required for the job used in the field or shop (2G, 3G, 4G, 5G or 6G).
Proficient in all the following tasks: tank layout, installing tank appurtenances, welded pipe field connections, etc.
Knowledgeable in the following welding techniques and use of machines: tig, arc, mig, spray transfer, and spot
Knowledgeable in the use of common metal fabrication equipment i

e:
rollers, man lifts, telehandlers, jacks, come along, porta power, dolly, crane, press brake, etc.

Working knowledge of OSHA regulations
Selfmotivated, taskoriented, leader
Required to possess a valid driver's license and legally be able to operate a company vehicle.
Required to pass a preemployment drug screening.
Must be able to physically perform all required duties which may include bending, lifting 50pound objects, carrying 50pound items, squatting, climbing ladders, working in confined spaces, working outdoors most of the time, or s
