This role is designed for professionals with personal lived experience navigating service systems for their child, offering a unique perspective that enriches the support provided to families navigating mental health services. The Family Partner serves as a vital link between families and ECMH/PEI services, ensuring that the family's voice and choice are respected and prioritized. This position reports directly to the Program Manager and plays a key role in facilitating community linkages, supporting the organization and enhancing access to various community services and supports.

    Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate and support community linkages for families, guiding them to appropriate services such as medical, educational, and social supports to build resilience and autonomy.

  • Develop and maintain relationships with community partners and service providers, enhancing the referral network available to families.

  • Serve as an advocate for families, ensuring their needs and preferences are communicated and respected throughout the service delivery process.

  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation of all interactions, interventions, and outcomes with families, contributing to the program's evaluation and continuous improvement efforts.

  • Participate in team meetings, supervision, and training sessions as required, sharing insights and strategies to improve service delivery and outcomes for families.

    Qualifications and Characteristics Desired:

  • Must be a parent who has successfully navigated service systems on behalf of their own child, demonstrating a strong understanding of the challenges and pathways to accessing care and support within the community.

  • Experience in facilitating or co-facilitating support groups such as parent Cafés and other group-based support activities.

  • Deep understanding of and ability to guide families through service systems, making complex processes more accessible and reducing barriers to care.

  • Demonstrated sensitivity to and competence in dealing with diverse client populations and addressing social determinants of health.

  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to act as a liaison between families and service providers.

  • Familiarity with initial screening and assessment tools like the North Carolina Family Assessment Scale (NCFAS), Ages & Stages Questionnaires (ASQ/ASQ-SE), and Pediatric Symptoms Checklist.
