Job Objective:

Qualifications

Education- Required: Graduate from an AMA, CoARC or JRCRTE approved Respiratory Therapy program; current and valid Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential from the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC)

  • Preferred: Associate Degree
    Licensure/Certification
  • Required: Current and valid Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) license from the Respiratory Care Board of California and American Heart Association BLS.
  • Required: American Heart Association ACLS and PALS if hired after March 1, 201
  • If hired prior to March 1, 2018, must obtain American Heart Association ACLS and PALS by November 30, 2018.
    Experience
  • Preferred: Minimum two years experience in an acute care facility
    Essential Responsibilities
  • Demonstrates compliance with Code of Conduct and compliance policies, and takes action to resolve compliance questions or concerns and report suspected violations.
  • Promotes and provides a safe and effective Respiratory Care to patients.
  • Performs patient assessment and develops an appropriate plan of care according to hospital policy and protocols.
Performs routine respiratory care procedures as appropriate for clinical patient care areas according to hospital policy or protocols. Performs respiratory care procedures as appropriate for critical care areas according to hospital policy or protocols. Performs charting and documentation that is consistently complete, accurate, legible and informative. Provides teaching and educational material to the patient and/or significant others concerning respiratory therapy. Responds to emergency situations and provides appropriate and timely treatments. Assists physicians or RCPIII with specialized care (e.g. bronchoscopy, trans-tracheal oxygenation). Participates in Performance Improvement and Quality Assessment activities and interdisciplinary teams as appropriate. Self-sufficient in seeking resource; may have specialized skills; demonstrates significant problem solving skills with respiratory modalities in the clinical setting. Ability to organize the workload and set priorities to meet time requirements. Complies with policies; uses discretion and follows through with areas of concern. Adheres to hospital infection control guidelines, body mechanics and safety, equipment usage and care. Demonstrates adaptability to working overtime and altering work schedule when priority respiratory therapy affects immediate patient care. Participates in activities resulting in professional and departmental growth. Attends continuing education programs to promote professional growth and maintains licensure in a timely manner. Maintains a high productivity level. Able to prioritize accordingly and maintains a high level of organization. Completes tasks in allotted time at the end of each shift. May be responsible for acting in a temporary capacity as team leader.- Performs other duties as requested.
