    Description

    Note: This role involves heavy printing, layout, and color approvals necessitating being on-site two-three days a week.

    Role Overview:

    This role provides technical and creative support to the Product Design team specifically on pre-press graphic design and handoff to production. Responsibilities include proofing all final designs across all product categories including desk & stationery, gifts, home decor, and brand partnerships. This role also supports the Sr. Designer on technical product design for some licensed categories. This position reports to the Senior Designer - Pre Press and works closely with our Product Design team and other designers. This role requires collaboration, forward-thinking, strong organizational skills, and attention to fine details.

    Note: The broader product design and production teams are split between our NYC design studio and our Winter Park studio. As a result, zoom/virtual meetings are an important aspect of this role.

    Responsibilities:

    • Manage prepress production adhering to industry print standards
    • Review digital and press proofs to ensure accuracy in meeting Rifle Paper Co. quality standards
    • Be able to clearly communicate corrections and changes to production partners/liaisons.
    • Assist Product Development staff by testing instructions, printing spreads, distributing notes, researching competitor products, and creating samples
    • Aid the Senior. Designer in concept or new design development as required
    • Generate files ensuring adherence to design intentions and efficient printing
    • Output color proofs
    • Contribute creative and innovative ideas aligning with Rifle Paper Co. Brand

    Skills & Experience:

    • (Assistant Graphic Designer level candidates will also be considered based on skills and experience)
    • 5-7 years of graphic design experience, emphasizing technical pre-press design (2+ years for Assistant Designer level)
    • Highly proficient in Adobe Creative Suite: Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign
    • Exceptional eye for color, print, composition, typography, layout, and overall graphic design
    • Highly detail-oriented and motivated by the slightest details of color, layout, and print
    • Effective interpersonal skills demonstrated through written and verbal communication; displaying directness, kindness, and thoughtfulness in interactions
    • Ability to assimilate and apply feedback and direction to cater to category needs
    • Graphic illustration or painting/sketching skills are a plus, not mandatory
    • Strong time management and organizational skills; proven ability to meet deadlines
    • Collaborative and team-oriented approach
    • A strong work ethic and a desire for continuous learning
