- Oversees and coordinates the City's accounting functions including fixed asset management, auditing, and financial reporting.
- Participates in the development, implementation, and administration of Accounting policies and procedures; establishes goals, objectives, and priorities for area of responsibility.
- Supervises, trains, and evaluates the performance of assigned personnel; monitors and ensures staff compliance with departmental policies, procedures, and applicable regulatory requirements.
- Responds to various types of accounting inquiries; provides technical guidance and/or accounting assistance to Finance staff and other City departments.
- Administers and maintains the City's fixed asset system; prepares related journal entries, schedules, reports, and documentation.
- Manages, updates, and maintains the City's chart of accounts; records and reviews journal entries.
- Provides assistance in maintaining and monitoring the accuracy of the City's financial records; performs monthly and year-end closing.
- Compiles and analyzes financial data; prepares and submits a variety of financial reports as required by State agencies including cash reports, sales tax returns, court costs, and arrest fees.
- Coordinates and participates in the City's annual audit processes; prepares various types of audit schedules; assists external auditors in the preparation of audit reports.
- Signs payroll and accounts payable checks within designated limits of authority.
- Regular and timely attendance is required.
- Other duties as assigned.
- CPA certification desired.
- Must possess a valid Texas Driver's License.
- Applicants with an out-of-state driver license must provide an original certified driving record from the state of driving licensure.

PRIMARYDUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Education and Experience:
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or related field; AND five years governmental accounting experience, including two years' supervisory experience; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience. Master's Degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or related field desired.
