***: Incumbent works to broad policies and objectives that require considerable independent judgement and initiative. Creates routers and travelers for Thread roll Customers parts using M1 computer generated software. Maintains and updates these master files on a continuing basis for all master methods with all necessary changes. Designs, plans, and coordinates continuous improvement projects to improve the Thread Rolling Dept.ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Develops, evaluates, and improves thread roll methods, utilizing knowledge of product design, materials and parts, fabrication processes, tooling and production equipment capabilities, and quality control standards using the master methods files.
Confers with thread roll shop staff concerning part design and tooling required to ensure efficient production methods.
Confers with vendors to determine product specifications and arrange for purchase of services, materials, or parts using the Subcontracts and Materials Section of Job Entry.
Estimate production times, outside processing requirements and relates costs to provide information for management decisions.
Performs all M1 computer functions related to Thread Roll jobs on shop floor, such as but not limited to the following:
Work Center Changes
Work Center Additions
Subcontract Pricing Changes
Update BOM and Open Job details with any changes.
Rework Planning / Routers
Planning Change Forms
Job release, router printing, and traveler printing and initial scheduling
Confers with management and other staff regarding thread rolling capabilities, production schedules, and other considerations to facilitate optimum production processes.
Maintains current and up to date master files of all Thread Rolled parts that can be audited by the quality department to Document and Data Control, Process Control and Product Realization.
MARGINAL/LESS ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Assist estimating in quoting thread roll requests for quotations using the M1 estimating and quote entry system.
Maintain on going personal training and motivation to ensure a quality work and progress in Lean Manufacturing concepts and establish training curriculums to be used to improve skills.
JOB QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
Training and Experience:
Between 4 and 10 years of experience in a machine shop environment, vocational education, work experience or apprenticeship desired.
College degree is desired.Physical Demands:
The employee is required to:
‐ stand, walk, push, pull, reach overhead, and bend to the floor.
‐ exert up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or
‐ exert up to 10 pounds of force frequently.
