Wound Treatment Nurse

Essential Functions

Management

1. Provide direct nursing care in accordance with the nurse practice act, federal and state regulations, facility policies and procedures, and prudent nursing judgment.


  • Plan, develop, organize, implement, evaluate, and direct the delivery of a resident's plan of care in accordance with current physician's orders, rules, regulations, and guidelines that govern the nursing care facilities and provide wound and nursing care to residents based on the same.
  • Have knowledge of an utilize of the facility's written policies and procedures that govern the day-to-day functioning of the nursing service department.
  • Utilize established methods for coordination and communication of nursing services with other resident services to ensure the continuity of the residents' total regimen of care.
  • Participate in facility surveys (inspections) made by authorized government agencies as necessary or as may be directed.
  • Conduct themselves in a professional manner in compliance with facility policies, including refraining from disclosing user credentials to access electronic records relating to resident or the facility information, and to promptly report suspected or known violations of such disclosure to the Administrator.
  • Agree not to disclose resident's protected health information and promptly report suspected or known violations of such disclosure to the Administrator.

Case Management

  • Participate in developing. evaluating, revising, and implementing a plan of care for each resident to achieve and maintain the highest practicable level of wellbeing possible, specifically relating to wound care treatment.
  • Provide education to residents/families/caregivers when the need arises, or as directed by the Administration and /or physician.
  • Provides prompt emergency support measures, including CPR, in accordance with physician orders, resident/family wishes, advance directives, and facility policies and procedures.
  • Provide care in a professional/ courteous manner by ensuring the resident is approached in a kind, gentle and friendly manner.
  • Provide care in a manner that respect for the resident's dignity and privacy is consistently provided.
  • Ensue that nursing interventions are performed in a timely manner. If there must be a delay, explanations for delays in answers/responses are provided.
  • Make frequent rounds to ensure that all nursing service personnel are performing their work assignments in furtherance of resident nursing care plans and wound treatment plans.
  • Provide complaint/grievance reports to the Administrator as required or as many be necessary.
  • Report occupational exposures to blood, body fluids, infectious materials, and hazardous chemicals in accordance with the facility's policies and procedures governing accidents an incidents.
  • Report known or suspected incidents of fraud, abuse, neglect, and/or misappropriation to the Administrator.

Work Environment
This role requires regular walking to various locations within the a facility. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers.


Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This would require the ability to lift twist, bend or stand as necessary.


Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
Rotating shifts, holiday and weekends as scheduled and agrees to be on-call as needed. Agree to participating in disaster relief and emergency operations procedure staffing.


Required Education and Experience

  • Must be a graduate of a professional school of nursing and possess a current, unencumbered, active license to practice as a Registered Nurse or Licensed Vocational Nurse in the State of Texas.
  • 2 years' experience in Long-Term Care
  • Must be able to differentiate and identify various types of wounds and possess knowledge of appropriate treatment and wound treatment products and practices.
  • Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.
  • Must be able to demonstrate leadership, organizational skills, and maintain a positive and professional attitude.
  • Computer literacy skills
  • Ability to work well under pressure, meet deadlines and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.

Preferred Education and Experience

  • Must be an at an active license is required.
  • Strong utilization knowledge of Point Click Care is preferred.
  • Significant experience working as a wound treatment nurse.
