Operations Team Leader


The Team Leader you will be assisting the Operations Manager in Daily hands-on tasks and be responsible for day-to-day operations.

The position actively works with the exempt and non-exempt employees and technicians guide and teach techniques and proper quality measures and new standards while always following best practices while ensure respect and regulatory policies and procedures are meet.

The TL will set the example by using Gemba?s, S6, Q6, all lean Six Sigma techniques.

WACO Aircraft is the world's only manufacturer of 1930's era biplanes. Our planes are carefully and skillfully built by hand. Our Centennial business does everything from restoring vintage aircraft to providing new avionics and engines to current aircraft.


Scope:


As a
Team Leader you will work with limited supervision, no two days are the same, work with a variety of personalities, guidelines, manufacturing processes, create and develop processed where they are missing, assists with testing, adjusting and repairing, and other general tasks related within a small manufacturing business while maintaining a safe and clean work environment according to manufacturer's specifications, as required by regulations.

In addition, this position prepares and completes appropriate documentation in a timely manner.

This position wears multiple hats and requires a great deal of computer literacy, to include excel spreadsheets, and all Microsoft office suite products.


What you will do:


  • Develop a strategy that the team members can use to better reach a project?s goal while maintaining the highest level of quality and integrity.
  • Assign tasks to team members. Reassigns work as necessary throughout the day.
  • Determine the completion timeline and monitor progress to keep the project on track and on schedule.
  • Communicate clear instructions to team members from top leadership.
  • Be motivational, encouraging, finds ways to help improve performance and helps the team stay on task.
  • Manage the flow of daytoday operations.
  • Solving the daytoday problems to keep the team working.
  • Be humble, resolve conflict, strong work ethic ? walk the talk.
  • Set clear daily objectives.
  • Must be capable of making sound technical decisions as a technician and/or when functioning as Production Inspector. Work efficiently and effectively troubleshoot and function test referencing manufacturer's technical documents across a variety of airframe, engine and component systems.
  • Willingly and effectively share knowledge and learned trusted techniques with lesser experienced technicians through the OJT program to foster their development, ensure accurate work, and support the department goals.
  • Inspect, troubleshoot, and repair airframe and powerplant components and systems.
  • Document work completed per company procedures and Federal Aviation Regulations.
  • Perform minor maintenance on ground support equipment as needed.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

As a manager/supervisory, the primary responsibility will be to oversee the workflow at our facility within your department. The role is a complex one. This will not only be someone who supervises the work of others.

A supervisor is also responsible for coaching, developing, resolving issues and serving as a link between team members and upper Leadership.

This position will be responsible, accountable for the work of their team members and properly training those team members to the standards set forth.


  • Monitor team member productivity and provide constructive feedback and coaching
  • Receive complaints and resolve problems
  • Maintain accurate and timely timecards
  • Pass on information from upper Leadership to employees and vice versa
  • Prepare and submit performance reports
  • Decide on and influence reward and promotion based on performance
  • Interview, hire, and train new employees within department
  • Work as a key member of the Production Leadership team.

What we are looking for:


Education/Experience:


  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • 25 years Successful Supervisory Experience Required or Equivalent

Specialized Training:


  • Experience in a manufacturing industry preferred.
  • Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record
